GameTechWorld writes about the Dark Campaign

Great article today from the game industry news site GameTechWorld who found out about us through “word of mouth” according to the writer.
Movie News - This Bat Soars…
Wednesday, 10 December 2008 17:02…but is it Oscar-worthy?
So believe the folks over at the Dark Campaign, a fan-created support page looking to help push Academy consideration for Nolan’s take on the “Batman” franchise. Best Supporting Actor nominations and Best Score considerations seem absolutely definite at this point, but the journey to the coveted Best Picture nomination may be a difficult road.
The fans over at the Dark Campaign, as well as those worldwide, may be the fuel that Warner Bros. needed to keep their hopes of a nomination alive.
Nicely done guys. More of that article here.

This article makes me feel a little bit better after that golden globes bullshit this morning.

It’s a great sign when people are hearing about this from word-of-mouth. Maybe at cocktail parties in Hollywood there’s some producer laughing about “all those nuts” supporting the Dark Knight for a Best Picture Oscar but it plants the seed of the idea.

I agree, that golden globes think ruined my morning. but, who watches the golden globes anyways? are they relevant? I don’t think so, so they they can have their stupid award show that no one will watch…

Screw the globes. Lets just keep getting the word out and let the important not lose our focus.

Someone in the Facebook group has a great idea to send Joker cards to Variety on Dec 17th with “For Your Consideration” written on the back. I love it.

Hello everyone, I’m the Editor-in-Chief of http://www.GameTechWorld.com, Ryan Lopees.
I am glad we can help spread this word-of-mouth movement. All credit due to Sam Ramnarine for bringing this to our attention at GTW, he’s quite passionate watching this movement as well. Also, I’d like to give a personal kudos JoshMC for the work on the poster. Fantastic idea.
While we all have different views an opinions at GTW, I can personally say that I think this would be a major break-through for the Comic Book industry if the Dark Knight gets the recognition it deserves.
I have no problem admitting that I have cases of comic books stored in my home and I’ve been collecting for over 20 years. I spend a lot of time lobbying with certain unamed groups to the fact that Comic Books and the characters and stories they spawn are, in fact, artistically equal to great liertary works and “fine art” works. “The Batman” alone has caused psychological study after another since his creation nearly 80 years ago.
It’s about time the Academy takes note. Sadly, that note may have to come on the wake of Ledger’s death. In any light, Christopher Nolan did a fantastic job with the film, something that should not be overlooked as well, and hopefully this will, indeed, fuel the fires for Warner Bros. and finally shut the Academy’s “It’s only a comic book” mentallity once and for all.

I’m so down! I’ll send a card!

Thanks Ryan Lopees, glad to hear other people sharing their passionate defense of comics and this excellent work. I think if this does cross over into a Best Picture nomination, it will stop that “it’s only a comic book movie” mentality for a while. Hopefully that will help propel studios to try harder and demand better scripts, directors, and performances.

Agreed, Blair. The bar has been raised for comic book adaptations, but an Academy Award nomination will give that new level of quality some much-needed longevity as well.
