DARK CAMPAIGN

Great article in PR Week about our campaign reach

by Blair on Dec.18, 2008, under NEWS

Last week I did an interview with PR Week about the Dark Campaign.  Here’s the scoop from the article:
The Cycle

ForPRWeek US your consideration

Warner Bros. is one of many studios in the midst of Oscar campaigns right now, promoting The Dark Knight and its actors, hoping for an Academy Award nod. But Warner Bros. is also getting the added bonus of a grassroots campaign started by a fan, Blair Erickson. His Web site, DarkCampaign.com, has been catching the attention not only of fans who have joined the cause on Facebook and YouTube, but also the media.

“I started it because I was a passionate fan of The Dark Knight and I thought it was a pretty groundbreaking film,” Erickson told PRWeek. “I saw it as a really good example of when Hollywood studios got it right.” Erickson, who works as creative director for interactive agency Millions of Us, previously launched a similar campaign for 2006’s Children of Men.

Read the rest of the article here and thanks to Kimberly for great piece!  FYI I also did an interview yesterday with another cool media outlet that I will be sharing hopefully shortly…

I’m really charged up about how receptive a lot of these media sites are being to our message. it’s very cool.

Has anyone seen the Blu-Ray features where they have live fan commentary and live discussions with the director, Christopher Nolan? What about getting into one of those?

  4. Blair

I believe (1) that has already passed, the screening with Nolan. (2) Don’t want to cross from advocates to annoyances.

The Blu-Ray features were really cool, definitely worth the money I paid for it.

I just saw on the news today that Heath Ledger has been nominated for the Screen Actors Guild award for best actor in a supporting role. This means that his chances for an Oscar has improved, and that TDK’s chance for best picture Oscar has improved as well.

Damn, we have similar movie tastes, since this is the movie I want nominated this year, as I wanted Children of Men nominated a few years ago. Two of my three favorite movies of the first few years of the 21st Century.
